Job Description

Homelessness Prevention Officer VacancyAgency Ref: 78441A highly reputable Local Authority is looking for a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join the team.Type: 3 Month TemporaryLocation: Hybrid working on site in West SussexHours: 37 hours per week Monday to FridayDaily duties:• Provide a proactive service to people who are at risk of becoming homeless, providing them with advice and support to prevent and or alleviate homelessness by enabling them to sustain their existing accommodation or achieve a planned move to alternative accommodation• Implement the Council’s statutory duties under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, in particular the prevention duty under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 • Carry out home visits where appropriate in an attempt to mediate between households who are at risk of homelessness• Respond to and deal with referrals received from public bodies in relation to those who may be threatened with homelessness under the “Duty to Refer” to prevent homelessness• Assist the Housing Options Officers to investigate and take all appropriate action in relation to allegations of harassment or illegal eviction in accordance with the Protection of Eviction Act 1977• Maintain accurate case records and assist in the compilation of relevant statistics and informationEssential Requirements:• Good understanding and knowledge of the private sector housing market• Proven experience of interviewing and advising• Full driving licence & use of a car
