Job OverviewQuality Engineer (Backshell Products) At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.Job OverviewAt TE Connectivity’s Hastings site manufacture connectors for harsh environments within Aerospace, Defence and Marine sectors. This role will focus on Quality Engineering for our Backshell products.A backshell is an accessory that mounts to the rear threads of a connector to enhance its operational characteristics. This is a new product range to our Hastings site. This role is essential for the success of the site’s continual improvement activities & maintenance of the relevant accreditations. The role will be responsible for overseeing that all quality-related tasks are understood & adhered to by the manufacturing & support teams and incorporated as part of the recognised process flows and procedures.Tasks Summary & Responsibilities• Active participation in process & problem analysis, involvement in the APQP.• Proactively identify risks across the responsible value stream. Develop mitigation plans with Manufacturing Engineering across the value stream to reduce the risk.• Develop cost-effective solutions for recurring problems with a keen focus on continuous improvement• Lead continuous improvement initiatives (process / system)• Lead & coordinate Customer Concern Resolutions (TECHS).• Establish and maintain communication between customer and concern owner for effective/prompt resolution.• Perform Internal Quality System Audits as requiredAssists/Co-operates:• Supervision, Manufacturing Engineering and members of the production departments as required.What your background should look like:Education• Degree educated in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or similar level experience.• Internal audit qualification is desirable.• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or advanced knowledge or use of Shainin methods for problem-solving preferredProfessional Experience • Solid professional experience within a Quality Engineer role within a CNC manufacturing environment or machine shop, plating, molding / assembly. Backshell knowledge is beneficial but not essential• Hands on experience with AS9100 and Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA & Root Cause Analysis)Knowledge & Skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels• Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP and related software products• Able to work effectively in a team & individually• Methodical approach to all problem solving activities, tenacious in finding true root causes and robust preventative actions.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines• Ability to think out of the box in creating effective solutions to internal & external concerns• Can select the required Q tool to gather and interrupt the data & report finding’s/progress.Location: Hastings, East SussexITAR Compliant siteCompetenciesValues: Integrity, Accountability,Teamwork, Innovation
