Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated professional to join our department from September 2020 in a supportive and team-orientated School.Our MFL Department is an energetic and exciting environment. It has grown in strength with the current team and we are looking for passionate and enthusiastic individuals who will contribute to the current teaching and learning strategies and develop their own teaching practice with our support.The successful candidate will be someone with a passion for their subject who will inspire and engage our students, and who will actively assist in the further development of Languages (specifically French) within the School.You will join a committed, hardworking and friendly department who work closely together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.The ability to teach across the range of Key Stages, including 6th form and IB is desirable. Applications are welcomed from both NQTs and experienced practitioners including those looking for positions with additional responsibility. Planning, Teaching and Class Management Teach allocated students by planning their teaching to achieve progression of learning through:

  • understanding and applying effective classroom management,
  • understanding and applying a range of teaching strategies,
  • positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs,
  • maintaining high levels of behaviour and discipline,
  • effectively using homework and other extra-curricular learning opportunities,
  • demonstrating appropriate consistent progress:
  • for the majority of students
  • across all teaching areas
  • across all spectrums of background, ability and behaviour that compares favourably with students in similar settings,
  • Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting
  • Use performance data to evaluate students progress and set appropriate targets for improvement.
  • Use assessment to inform planning and teaching. Pastoral Duties
  • Register students, accompany them to assemblies, encourage their full attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of School life.
  • Alert appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
  • Communicate, as appropriate, with parents of students and persons or bodies outside the School concerned with the welfare of individual students, after consultation with appropriate staff.
  • Contribute to PSHE and citizenship and enterprise according to School policy.
