We are looking to recruit an exceptional Specialist Dietician to join our friendly and proactive department. The Dietetic Department of more than 55 staff is managed as one team, but is structured into smaller teams led by Senior Specialist Dietitians. We are actively involved in the training of Trainee Dietitians and offer A, B and C placements.You will work in partnership with South Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group and work collaboratively with Dietetic services, GP practices, patients and carers in care homes.A large part of this role will focus on the direct engagement with care homes across South Tyneside which will include supporting staff and patients and implementing training programmes to promote effective food first practices. You will also work alongside GP practices to promote cost effectiveness with appropriate prescribing of ONS.This exciting role will provide opportunities for service development, audits and research which will contribute towards the quality of nutrition support in the care home population in South Tyneside. Furthermore, you will be encouraged to attend conferences in addition to networking with care home teams and medicines management Dietitians within the UK. You will also work alongside colleagues who support care homes & community and a Dietetic Support Worker who you will line manage.Your CPD is important to us and we offer good post-graduate education and training opportunities.In return, you must possess a Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics, registration with the HCPC and proven experience of working in nutrition support within a community setting. Your experience of MDT working, good organisational skills, good problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively to all members of the team will of great importance in this role.Situated on the North East coast, there are good travel links in the region and you will be a metro ride from Newcastle upon Tyne, which has excellent social and shopping facilities, it is also within easy reach of the Metro Centre at Gateshead.The Trust has an onsite gym and has a Training and Education Centre. Both of our hospital sites are easily accessible by road and metro, and a shuttle service runs between both sites.
