Job Description

Options for Care are currently looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist to work within our mental health inpatient service, Dartmouth House, in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham. We have two existing mental health hospital units, Montague Court and Dartmouth House and a residential step-down service, Orchard House. In addition, we are looking to open a new mental health inpatient hospital unit, Stanford Court, in Highgate, Birmingham. This is due to open in January 2021.

  • Montague Court is an 18 bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Edgbaston, Birmingham
  • Dartmouth House is a 16 bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham
  • Orchard House is a 8 bed residential step-down recovery service based in Erdington, Birmingham; this allows extension of the long term complex care pathway.
  • Stanford Court will be a 20 bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Highgate, Birmingham. The building set-up enable us to offer levels of support dependent on the needs of the individual. Five of these beds form a separate Extra Care Suite and five are self-contained recovery flats.
  • We have successfully completed a period of transformation and rapid development in service delivery and quality improvement. We offer relationship-centred, best practice interventions, supporting individuals to improve their quality of life whilst working towards their personal goals. The MOHOST has been established within the service as the core occupational therapy assessment tool, providing evidence of change and focus on occupation. Additional assessments, such as AMPS, are used as led by service-user need.The successful candidate will be based at Dartmouth House, currently rated by CQC as good, and will be supported by the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.You will be required to support the MDT to deliver person centered care, supporting individuals towards community integration. We are continually developing and evolving our care pathway and use best practice outcome measures and assessment tools.Staff development, support and supervision is in place alongside staff health benefits making Options for Care a welcoming and positive place to work.
