This is a long term opportunity, you will be supporting the teacher in small classes of 6 pupils helping them engage in the learningenvironment.The School:Reed Education are proud to be working with this aspirational special school for pupils with additional learning needs arising from Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). The school caters for 3 - 16 year olds, who have a statement of SpecialEducational Needs (SEN). Many of the pupils who attend have additional barriers to learning including ADHD, ASD, ODD and mental health difficulties. The staff-pupil ratio is high with at least 1 teacher and 1-2 teaching assistants in each class of 6 pupils.The curriculum that is provided for pupils is personalised with a strong emphasis on wellbeing of pupils.Job description:The role is to assist teachers and encourage childrens confidence, self-esteem, and independence. You may be expected to liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologistsand manage challenging behaviour.What we need from you: Supporting schoolwork under the supervision of the teacher Prepare learning resources Experience in working with students with SEBD. Provide feedback and assistance to the teachers.
