Job Description

Special Needs Teaching AssistantLocation: Ebbw ValeSalary: £12.82per hourJob Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday - Term Time onlyOur school is currently on the lookout for a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Teaching Assistant to provide essential support to students with diverse needs. If you have a passion for educational development and a dedication to creating a positive impacton children with special needs, we would love to hear from you.Due to the needs of the pupils you must be able to commit to Monday to Friday, during term time as they need consistency and commitment from staff.Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide individualised support to students with various challenges, including behaviour management, mental health issues, trauma, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Implement strategies to foster positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
  • Assist in classroom activities to support academic and social development.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working with children with special needs, particularly in areas such as behaviour management, mental health, trauma, or ASD.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to stay composed in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of students.
  • Must hold a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is essential.
