Job Description

Video Engineer

  • Daily Rate: Flexible (inside IR35, umbrella)
  • Location: Salford
  • Job Type: Contract
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 Months
  • Hybrid: 2 days per week minimum
We are seeking a Video Engineer to join a high-profile project focused on Video Streaming Technology for Live & VOD content. This role is crucial for implementing, deploying, and maintaining the infrastructure as code for streaming video backend and components.The ideal candidate will have a solid background in modern programming languages and cloud-based video streaming platforms. Day to day of the role:
  • Implement, deploy, and maintain infrastructure as code for streaming video backend and components.
  • Monitor, log, and alert systems to proactively identify and address performance issues.
  • Ensure uninterrupted video delivery by providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Resolve video-related issues and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance video streaming quality and infrastructure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Solid programming skills in modern languages such as Go, Python, and familiarity with specific streaming and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience in writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform.
  • Proven experience in video streaming platforms, preferably in a cloud-based environment.
  • Knowledge of streaming protocols like HLS, MPEG-DASH.
  • Understanding of CDNs, caching mechanisms, and edge caching strategies.
  • Experience with Edge compute.
  • Knowledge of DRM systems and content protection mechanisms.
  • Experience with ABR streaming and dynamic packaging technologies.
