Job Description

Bolton Council are currently seekingan Administrator to work within their Licensing Teamon a full time, temporary basis.Contract: Initially until 30/11/22, with potential for extensionLocation:Victoria Square, Bolton,BL1 1RUHours: 37 per week.This is a great opportunity to work in a role with a variety of tasks, gain andutilise clerical experience, and get your foot in the door with a leading local authority.Duties Include:

  • Efficient receipt and checking of applications for licences and permits.
  • Checking of official documentation such as driving licences, passports to enable an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau to be obtained and to complete a right to work check.
  • Deal with enquiries face to face, via letter, email and by telephone from all sources requesting specific information and advice on licensing requirements.
  • Create and maintain databases for clients/vehicles/operators/premises and all other licences which necessitate such requirements.
  • Accurately accounting for the monies received, receipting customers and secure monies received. Reconciling and banking of monies received in accordance with set process.
  • Update and maintain comprehensive, accurate and up to date record management.
  • Ensure data protection and human rights are considered and maintained at all times.
  • Assist in the preparation of written reports, statistics relating to licences and permits issued and financial analysis for central Government, HMRC, National Fraud Initiative and internal performance monitoring.
  • Use of various IT systems such as Lagan, Civica, Lalpac, Paris and Microsoft Office and printing equipment.
  • To assist in other activities as required by the Licensing Manager from time to time and that fall outside normal range of activities.
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with members of the public, businesses, licence applicants, Councillors, external agencies.
  • The ability to give advice and information to licence applicants and deal with enquiries.
  • Ability to deal with difficult or emotional customers appropriately and empathetically.
  • Good use of MS office package
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training and development in order to meet the requirements of the post
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines according to the demands of the service.
  • Demonstrate basic accurate numeracy skills in order to maintain financial records, handle monies received and reconcile receipts.
