Job Description

Job Title:Head of EstatesJob reference:SF240213Venn Group have a position available for a Head of Estates within a leading NHS trust in the North West with Hybrid working available.The duties will include:

  • Deputise for and act on behalf of the Associate Director of Capital, Estates & Facilities on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Provide accountability for the day-to-day management and delivery of the Asset Register, Reactive Maintenance Programme, Planned Preventative Maintenance, New Works and Backlog Maintenance Programme, Space Utilisation, Fire Safety Management and MedicalDevices Management. Ensure all work is appropriately planned, prioritised, sequenced, and executed to the agreed programme and delivered within budget.
  • Apply and provide specialist knowledge and advice on service requirements including statutory obligations, best practice and standard operating procedures acting as the Senior Operational Manager in line with HTM00.
  • Accountable for the Fire Safety team, and liaise with the Trust’s Fire Safety Advisors in ensuring compliance with all relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Act as a Responsible Person for Legionella, Asbestos, Electrical Safety and Fire as set out in HTMs.
  • Provide advice and initial design input in the preparation of capital schemes.
  • Undertake detailed analyses of service provision as required and contribute to the development of strategies and plans to improve service delivery in a cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Develop, maintain, and review policy and procedures relevant to Estates services, whilst commenting on other Trust policies.
  • Ensure the directorate adopts a consistent approach to the use and provision of financial, performance, human resources and other management information.
  • Undertake active engagement in regional and national forums, influencing local and national services priorities and policy, as a Trust representative.
  • Participate in the Estates on-call rota covering all Estate services out of normal working hours.
  • Commission and obtain specialist medical engineering as required.
  • Implement the NHS sustainability agenda as it relates to energy performance, carbon reduction commitments and following Encode, whilst leading utility account management for the organisation and those which are serviced under Provider to Provider arrangements.
Essential Skills/Qualifications
  • Full UK Driving Licence – and Own Transport
  • Educated to Masters (MBA/MSc) level or equivalent, Relevant Post-graduate qualification or equivalent
  • Professional Qualification at graduate level Degree in an Engineering or Building related subject or equivalent + post graduate course and experience to a master’s level
  • Member of a relevant professional institute (CIBSE, IEE, IHEEM, etc.) or similar Chartered Professional Body
  • BOHS P405 module in Management of Asbestos
Desirable Skills/Qualifications
  • Understanding the operating environment of NHS organisations including clinical services
