Job Description

Mechanical Design EngineerSpecial Purpose Machinery Design using Autodesk InventorSalary up to: £45,000 PALocation: Cambourne - Sandy area. Own transport required due to location.Office based position at the client site.Established leader in processing equipment and solutions for the food processing / packaging manufacturing industry requires a Mechanical Design Engineer to work within the design team on their comprehensive range of equipment that they manufacture.The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D of special purpose, automated machinery designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical design and experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software systems.Key Responsibilities:

  • Create 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Design, manufacture, and special purpose, automated machinery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet customer needs and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Provide technical support to customers and other team members as needed.
  • Be able to deal directly with suppliers to obtain prices and delivery times.
It would be advantageous, but not essential to have:
  • Previous shop floor "hands on" experience; Machining, Welding Fabrication or "Time served Apprentice" etc.
  • A working knowledge of: - steam systems and energy, stress calculations, fluid systems, pumps and pipe work, pneumatics, sizing of motor/gearboxes for applications, sheet metal development, tolerance of machined parts
We do require candidates to:
  • Have significant experience of using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Live within a commutable distance from the Huntingdon - Sandy - Cambridge area.
  • Have your own transport due to the Clients rural location.
Hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm (Mon - Fri). Overtime is sometimes available.Location: In the St. Neots - Cambourne - Huntingdon area (Cambridgeshire / Bedfordshire)
