Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer - Autodesk Inventor Salary Range: to £40,000 paLocation: Cambourne - Sandy area - (Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire border)Office based position, based at the client site, with no public transport links - you would need your own form of transport to get here.We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with significant experience of using Autodesk Inventor to join this established leader; who operates in the design, manufacture and installation of special purpose, automated machinery to food processing industry.The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D of special purpose, automated machinery designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical design and solid experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software systems.Key Responsibilities:

  • Create 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Design special purpose, automated machinery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet customer needs and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Provide technical support to customers and other team members as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software systems.
It would be advantageous, but not essential to have:
  • Previous shop floor "hands on" experience or either Machining, Welding Fabrication or "Time served Apprentice" etc.
  • A working knowledge of: steam systems and energy, stress calculations, fluid systems, pumps and pipe work, pneumatics, sizing of motor/gearboxes for applications, sheet metal development, tolerance of machined parts.
We do require candidates to:
  • Have significant experience of using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Live within a commutable distance from the Huntingdon - Sandy - Cambridge area or be able to relocate before starting work.
  • Have your own transport due to the Clients location.
