WA3 3EQDepartment Covered:Long Covid Clinic / CFS -ME servicePlacement Ref/ID: 44588The Role:We have an urgent long term placement opportunity for Band 6 - Specialist Occupational Therapist available at Golborne Clinic.Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute trust serving the people of Wigan and Leigh. Innovative and forward thinking, the trust provides the best possible healthcare for the local populationin the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas.Job Summary:This is new clinic (Long Covid) which sits and works alongside the well-established chronic fatigue syndrome / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). Monies will be temporary which is likely to be March 2022.Ideally we are looking for Occupational Therapists who have experience in Biopsychosocial work / Open Systems Models e.g. Assessment and Management of CFS/ME - FND - Pain Management, Neurosciences ; Mental Health.Skills:To apply for this post, you will:

• HCPC Registration
• Evidence of post-graduate education
• The trust is willing to consider candidates for part/full time position
• It is a community service and clinics may take place in various locations across the borough of Wigan and although a lot of our clients can travel to clinics some will need to be seen via Home Visits and or other locations therefore a car driving is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Training will be provided re our integrated Model ( Model of Human Occupation and 3 x P - Predisposes, Precipitators and Perpetuators ) and Management Toolkit which includes helping those affected by fatigue syndromes to learn and put into practice Pacingtheir energy levels, Planning rest / relaxation and engaging in mindfulness, Consideration of their diet; working alongside our Consultant re Pharmacological management; Sleep hygiene; stretches and "Communication with the self and others" which includes somePerson center counselling / active listening ; Dialectical behaviors techniques, adapted CBT so anyone with these skills would be well placed
• Consideration is also given to the clients various environments - home & family; work and or education and the Team is actively involved in Vocational Rehabilitation and helping those affected to remain in Education by recommending Reasonable Adjustmentsetc. Our band 3 OT Assistant is our lead in the ordering and provision of Aids & Adapts
• Many of our clients have experienced various types of traumas and one of our existing practitioners is qualified in Eye movement Desensitization and Processing Therapy (EMDR). Any interested AHP needs to be aware that clients traumas are identified anddiscussed via the model. Supervision and support will be given by an experienced clinician
