Head of Science Are you a passionate and experienced science teacher looking for a new challenge Do you have a proven track record of leading and developing a successful science department Do you have qualified teacher status (QTS) or qualified teacher learning and skillsstatus (QTLS) in England and WalesIf you answered yes to these questions, then we have an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for a head of science to join our dynamic and innovative school. You will be responsible for leading and managing the science faculty, ensuring high standardsof teaching and learning, curriculum delivery, student progress, staff development and resource management. You will also contribute to the strategic direction and vision of the school as a member of the senior leadership team.As the head of science, you will:

• Lead and inspire a team of science teachers and technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence and accountability
• Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging science curriculum that meets the needs and interests of all students, from KS3 to KS5, and prepares them for further education and careers in science
• Monitor and evaluate the quality and impact of science teaching and learning, using data, observation and feedback to identify areas of strength and improvement
• Provide effective and timely support and intervention for students who are underachieving or have additional needs in science
• Plan and deliver high quality professional development for science staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to deliver outstanding science lessons
• Manage the science budget and resources, ensuring they are used efficiently and effectively to enhance science teaching and learning
• Promote and celebrate the achievements and successes of the science faculty, both within the school and the wider community
• Keep up to date with the latest developments and best practices in science education and share them with the science team and the school

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Have QTS or QTLS and a relevant degree in science or a related subject
• Have substantial and successful experience of teaching science across all key stages, including A-levels
• Have evidence of successful leadership and management of a science department or a significant area of responsibility within science
• Have excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical skills in science
• Have a clear vision and passion for science education and its role in developing young people’s curiosity, creativity and character
• Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Have a commitment to continuous professional learning and development
• Have a positive and proactive attitude to working collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents and external partners
