Job Description

Foundation OfficerBasic Purpose of the JobThe post of Foundation Officer will work closely with the Foundation Manager to implement a programme of communications and events, which focus on bringing the Charterhouse community together.Main Duties

  • Implement the Schools Alumni (called Old Carthusians or OCs) and Parent Relations strategy in conjunction with the Foundation Manager and all departmental colleagues.
  • Deliver a high-quality programme of School events for OCs, parents and others which provide meaningful opportunities to become involved in, and make a significant contribution to, supporting the Schools aims.
  • Responsibility as lead point of contact via email and phone for alumni and parents, OC Clubs and Societies, and old House Associations.
  • Responsible for processing and analysing departmental mass email communications.
  • Support the Foundation Manager in delivering careers networking and mentoring, focusing on OCs, current pupils and parents.
  • Contribute to a suite of hard copy School publications and electronic communications for OCs and parents.
  • Management of all alumni obituaries.
  • Contribute to the Schools social media presence in conjunction with colleagues In Marketing.
  • Contribute to the administration and development of the Schools online community platform:
  • CharterhouseConnect.
  • Ensure that all data is accurately and recorded in a timely manner and gives due consideration to the needs of the School as well as GDPR and other relevant data regulation
  • Play a proactive active role in administrating the activities of our OC and Parent Boards in Hong Kong, the USA, and elsewhere around the globe.
  • Undertaking such other activities as may be reasonably expected.
  • Working in accordance with the Data Protection Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Responsibilities may evolve as OC and parent relations and fundraising activities develop.
Person SpecificationRelevant Experience/Knowledge & Technical CompetenciesDESIRABLE
  • Experience events delivery, especially of delivering high-quality complex events.
  • Delivery of mass-communications programmes, including emails to stakeholders.
  • Experience of supporting volunteers to support institutional aims.
  • Experience of building internal and external relationships.
  • Management of an online community / careers programme
  • Experience of contributing to social media strategies
  • Previous experience working in the education/charity sector
  • Sound knowledge and application of the Data Protection Act
  • Experience in proof reading and writing articles and marketing materials
  • Experience of using a CRM database such as Raisers Edge.
  • Previous experience of Email Marketing products such as MailChimp or Mailjet

Heads of TermsSalary£26,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.Working HoursThe post of the Foundation Officer is a full time, all year-round post, 37.5 hours per week (usually 0900 - 1730, Monday to Friday, with an hour unpaid for lunch). There will be a requirement for some evening and weekend working.SafeguardingWorking in a School environment, the jobholder is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible or with whom they come into contact and are expected to adhere to and ensure compliance withthe Schools Safeguarding Policies at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the Job Holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School they must report any concerns to theSchools Designated Safeguarding Lead.Closing date for applications: noon on Thursday 23 February 2023.Interviews will take place: 27 February to 1 March 2023.
