Job Description

Technical Support and Service EngineerFulhamJob Purpose

  • The role is predominantly field based, requiring the necessary time away from the office visiting customers regarding pre-installation support, fault finding, lighting controls commissioning and general technical support.
  • To provide technical support and advice using in-depth understanding of lighting installations and control systems, supporting the field-based technical team and the Sales and Design teams.
  • To be responsible for offering the correct technical solution relevant to the situation.
  • Promoting our services and products to offer the best solution for the client whilst maximising the sales opportunity.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the highest quality LC commissioning services on projects, keeping an accurate timed log of all LC commissioning projects.
  • Ensure that all field documentation (incl. site visit reports, handover documents) are fully completed, signed and archived.
  • Communicate and report on weekly/monthly basis regarding support topics.
  • Analyse potential faults and give advice on technical solutions, pro-actively dealing with and resolving customer issues whilst tracing the chain of fault back to a root cause whilst liaising with the Aftersales team.
  • Monitor and communicate any technical or installation issues to the Technical Support & Service Manager.
  • Minimise any remedial cost to the company as a result of rectifying projects both in terms of product supply, returns and 3rd party labour costs involved in completing the work.
  • Log product defects and inform the Operations Director and Product Development Manager.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to electrical installers and distributors or partners.
  • Support the Technical Support & Service Manager in suggesting content for technical support documentation including application notes, technical tips, FAQs, and training documents.
  • Perform bench testing of suspected faulty products taking into account H&S procedures.
  • Be fully aware of all products, technology, and technical information.
  • Assist Sales, Aftersales, Design and R&D Teams in and out of the office.
  • You will always need to be available on your company phone when working away from the office.
  • Qualifications/Requirements
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability and desire to deliver technical support to the highest level, as well as growing the service and commissioning revenues.
  • GCSE - C+ Maths, English, Science
  • Engineering / Electrical / Electronic Courses preferable such as NVQ, BTECH, HNC
  • Strong technical knowledge within the electrical and lighting manufacturing industry, experience with LED fittings and LED drivers, Lighting Controls and LC commissioning services
  • Lutron / Rako wired & wireless controls commissioning experience desirable
  • Familiar and confident with dimming protocols such as Dali, 1-10V & Phase (mains)
  • Proven practical experience in testing and fault finding desirable
  • Practical, theory or maintenance background in electrical and electronic workings
  • Project management experience is desirable
  • Additional software skills such as CRM, SAP B1 and Microsoft Office are also preferred.
