You will also be responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of the school and to maintain the premises both internally and externally.As the Building Maintenance Site Manager / School Caretaker you will be a can-do person who is reliable, hardworking, patient, well-organised and self-motivated, who takes pride in their work and has a sense of humour.APPLY TODAYIf this job looks like your ideal position, then please send in your CV as soon as possible for our Recruitment Team to review.DUTIESYour duties and responsibilities as the Building Maintenance Site Manager / School Caretaker:• To be the main key holder and to be responsible for the maintenance of keys and the electronic alarm system and be the first respondent to emergency call outs• General school maintenance for buildings and surrounding grounds • Check the conditions of the buildings and playgrounds and reporting any faults• Conduct fire safety and H&S checks for the site• Check the heating is operating and that timers are set correctly and working• Event set up and take down• Support and assist the school to conduct specific/ ad hoc caretaking tasks when required• Assist the cleaning team and order consumables as and when required• Opening and closing of the school – ensuring building is secure at all times• Being the onsite contact for contractors, supervising and monitoring progress of the work carried out• Adhere to recycling schemes• Undertake portering duties where necessary, assisting with deliveries to the site, ensuring proper storage and distribution of goods• Patrol the site to check for hazards, damages and intruders• Adhere to Safeguarding procedures that the school follow• Organise and prioritise tasks to ensure the safety of all staff and children is maintainedCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS• Basic handyperson skills are essential – with the know-how to assess and carry out minor repairs and maintenance independently and commission experts where required• Considerable, demonstrable experience of high-quality maintenance, site/facilities management and health and safety• Ability to work independently and lead • Ability to organise own work, to prioritise tasks and keep to deadlines• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with adults, children and young people• Ability to be flexible and respond effectively to the ‘unexpected’ • Ability to apply basic ICT skills to the needs of the job • Displays commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people • Certification of relevant health and safety training or a willingness to attend appropriate Health and Safety training• Knowledge and understanding of various cleaning methods and techniques • An understanding of health, safety and security issues and relevant legislation affecting schools and in undertaking risk assessments • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of, children and young peopleHOW TO APPLYTo be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
