Job Description

Alarm Communications Limited (ACL), an integral division of Marlowe Fire & Security Group, are looking to appoint a Senior Finance Assistant To look after day-to-day accounting tasks as required in conjunction with the existing team in Accounts.Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out day to day accounting tasks for ACL in conjunction with the other members of the Accounts department including purchase invoice posting, expenses, raising invoices, credit control and invoice query resolution. Credit card analysis.
  • Assist with month end close processes including reconciling intercompany balances with other group companies and ensuring all expected costs have been input into accounting system. Preparing various reports to assist effective month end adjustments.
  • Review monthly activity to prepare journal entries. VAT return reconciliations. Bank reconciliations.
  • Record vehicle change details for P11d records. Payroll hours and mileage records for group payroll team
  • Work closely with the operational departments and become familiar with the service systems in use within the Fire & Security division (Simpro)
  • Provide cover during staff holidays for both AR and AP.
  • Other duties including admin responsibilities as delegated from time to time by the Financial Controller.
Essential Work Skills:
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of working in a responsible wide accounting role in an SME company, ideally engineering or construction or facilities management
  • Familiar with accounts procedures and sales, purchase, and nominal ledgers and ideally able to handle accounting up to trial balance level
  • Possess practical understanding of Sage 50 or similar accounting software.

  • Able to multitask across different types of accounting related areas
  • Good IT/system skills and good level of competence in Excel

  • Strong organizational & time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and integrity of the ledgers.

  • Working hours will be Mon-Fri 8.30am till 5pm with 1hr lunch. This role is an office based position however after training some flexibility can be provided to work from home 1 day per week.
