Job Description

Role Overview Reporting to the IT Manager, the Senior IT Engineer is a hands-on role in a highly fast-paced environment working with some of the worlds largest brands. The role is responsible for maintaining and supporting Blue Squares core server and desktop infrastructure and assisting as both team member, and sometimes team lead, in project design and implementation.The role is both internal and external customer facing and requires excellent communication and customer service skills. The position requires effective management and prioritisation of own tasks, excellent responsiveness to issues and problems as well as the ability to contribute to an environment oriented on trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort.All suitable candidates should reside no more than 50 miles away from the vacancy location. Candidates who live outside of the requirement will not be considered. Main Duties and Areas of Responsibility* Identify best technology solutions to meet short to long term needs.* Take ownership of IT related tasks and projects, seeing them through to completion, exceeding expectations. * Provide fault diagnosis and problem resolution, meeting Service Level Agreements, ensuring support requests are logged into ticketing system, following all support processes.* Be an escalation point for complex IT issues, maintaining accurate ticketing system logs.* Manage and prioritise own workload completing tasks to end user satisfaction.* Coordinate application of software installation, releases and patches.* Deliver infrastructure installation, hardware refresh, and other system projects.* Risk assessment and risk management.* Deputise for the IT Manager and attend meetings, trainings or seminars. * Support in coordinating the needs of stakeholders across the business.* Consider stability, security, resilience, and disaster recovery needs for all work items.* Act in accordance with the companys information security policies to protect all assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference.* Report security events or potential events to the IT Manager or Head of Operations.* Communicate concepts and ideas to different audiences, gaining management buy-in.* Understand and document detailed system configuration.* Keep abreast of changes in standards, technologies and methodologies.Technical Skills* Microsoft Windows Server (2016 R2) including AD, DNS, Group Policy, WDS.* Microsoft Windows 10.* Virtualisation Technologies (Hyper-V).* HP / Nimble Storage Area Network Systems.* Scripting (Windows PowerShell).* Demonstrable experience of cloud-based technologies, including Azure administration.* Knowledge and experience of Microsoft EMS Functions.* Knowledge and understanding of Azure Active Directory.* Experience in using Microsoft Autopilot for device configuration and deployment.* Experience of Microsoft Intune administration and management.* Understanding of ITIL and ISO 27001 and 9001.Person Specification * A starter and a finisher: take initiative, acts with confidence and works under own direction.* Doesnt accept the status quo.
