Job Description

Product Manager - InstrumentationLocation: Fowlmere, CambridgeshireSalary: £36k - £50kContract: Full time, PermanentHours: Monday to Thursday: 08:30 - 17:00, Friday 08:30 - 15:45ION Science has over 30 years of industry experience designing, manufacturing, and supplying PID gas sensors, gas detection instruments and leak detectors for a wide range of industries and applications. We are an unrivalled worldwide Gas and Leak detectionCompany, with a Team of workers who strive to deliver exceptional product quality and customer satisfaction.This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Team and be part of a well-recognised brand associated with quality.Product Manager - The Role:The product manager role will be focused on developing, managing, and executing the product strategies for ION Sciences global instrumentation business. This position will aim to find the perfect balance between market pull and technology push, helpingto ensure the effective lifecycle management of our existing product ranges, whilst looking ahead at the growth and development of our future portfolio.Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the commercial team to understand our current product position, alongside our aims for the future
  • Closely monitoring the market to understand and advise on key trends and developments, producing well researched, insightful reports where needed
  • Liaising with our global offices and partners to develop a thorough and deep understanding of the market, our customers, and our end users
  • Ensuring the voice of the customer is heard and ever present across the business
  • Being the key interface and point of contact for all functions, on all relevant projects
  • Lead the process of defining product vision, mission and strategy. Clearly articulating the business value to the wider team so they can understand the products purpose
  • Engaging with our Research & Development teams to understand the direction of travel for existing and future technologies
  • Utilising the above information to help compile business cases and specifications for the development of new products, alongside the management of existing
  • Helping to accelerate the product development and introduction process, to ensure ION maintains its position as a pioneering, key player in the market
  • Working with the marketing team to help develop go-to-market and product launch strategies
  • Driving the success of the product and service quality, alongside a cross-functional team that will be building and improving it
  • Managing product and portfolio life cycles, from conception through to end of life
Product Manager - The Person:
  • An experienced product manager; ideally within the gas detection industry, or with instrumentation
  • A strong technical background with an ability to understand complex products and technologies across a breadth of markets
  • An excellent team player with superb interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in, or with project management teams
  • Fantastic communication skills, with an ability to work across multiple teams and functions
  • Experience working across a variety of markets and countries
  • Highly organised and goal-oriented individual
  • Experience managing and resolving product issues swiftly and efficiently
  • Clear leadership qualities, working with others towards a goal with the ability to navigate both internal and external challenges
  • Well-versed with IT solutions; namely the MS software suite, though experience with the following would be beneficial: Jira, SAP ERP & Hubspot
