Job Description

Electronics EngineerLocation: Fowlmere, CambridgeshireSalary: Competitive, DOEContract: Permanent, Full timeHours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pmShort Description:An exciting opportunity has become available in a fast growing, well established gas detection company.The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design and development of world class gas sensors.The role is suitable for someone with relevant qualifications in electronics or physics and at least 5 years’ experience designing low noise amplifier or sensor interface electronics.Electronics Engineer - The Role:The Role will report to the Head of Research & Development and will involve the following:

  • Design, assembly and test of intrinsically safe gas sensor electronic components and products
  • Design low noise analogue and digital electronic circuits
  • Prototyping with through hole and surface mount components size down to 0402 and DFN type packages.
  • Alter and modify existing designs to meet new requirements and eliminate malfunctions
  • Hardware troubleshooting, fault finding and problem solving
  • Hands on testing and characterisation during New Product Development
  • Theoretical design simulation
  • Understanding and overcoming EMC immunity/emissions
  • Supporting the supply of new / obsolete parts
  • Working in an ISO9001 and ISO14001 environment

    • Electronics Engineer - Technical Skills and Experience:Due to the hands-on nature of the position we seek candidates possessing extensive and recent experience in the following areas:
  • A relevant qualification in electronics or physics
  • At least 5 years’ experience designing low noise amplifier or sensor interface electronics
  • Must have experience with small signal analogue electronics including transimpedance amplifiers
  • Hands on experience with ADC, DAC, voltage regulation and analogue circuits
  • Able to read schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Working with PCBs and microcontroller programmers
  • Use of standard electronics tools including surface mount soldering, multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Understanding of mechanical and software components
  • Understanding of scientific principles to do with gas chemistry relevant to VOC gas sensing and detection
  • Experience in product design, design for test and design for manufacture
    • Technical Qualifications:
  • Degree or above in related subject.
