Job Description

Our Client, a well-established and thriving fast moving distribution company, is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their growing team.As it is a hands-on Operations Manager role, the successful candidate will handle successful management of all transport matters, personnel, health and safety and all operational activities to be carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner.Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for Safety Management System and approval of all site documents
  • Manage the contact/interface with all appropriate regulatory / professional bodies.
  • Report to senior management on Near Misses, Misloads, PSPI performance for site.
  • Create, agree & achieve annual cost budgets for Swansea Depot.
  • Work closely with Transport Manager to ensure safe and efficient distribution of chemicals on depot fleet.
  • Act as Permit to Work, SAP and Legionella Responsible person.
  • Act as site Health and Safety lead coordinator.
  • Identify site improvements - operational compliance / efficiency - and ensure these are communicated in a timely manner and included in the annual Capex plan.
  • Create and implement agreed capex requirements in a timely, efficient manner including MoC requirements.
  • Effectively manage operational teams at Swansea Depot, including storage, distribution & chemical filling schedules.
  • Identify & drive all areas of operational improvement required to meet future/projected business needs.
  • Have ability to liaise with customer base on operational and technical requirements, including safe compliance and tank/site inspections.
  • Undertake designated site ops / engineering inspections.
  • Ensure out of hours emergency calls are dealt with effectively (in conjunction with GM).
  • Ensure staff development through management and coaching.
Qualifications Required
  • National level 3 qualifications in related technical fields or maths & science essential.
  • IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications essential.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Operations management in the chemicals industry strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of storage and distribution.
  • Knowledge of inorganic chemistry and associated processes desirable
  • Knowledge / experience of HAZOP activities desirable
