Job Description

Electronics, Control & Instrumentation Engineer - (1x EC&I and 1x Senior EC&I positions available)Location: FarnboroughSalary: £42,000 - £60,000 (Depending on experience & level of seniority)We have an exciting opportunity to join a science and technology organisation that operate in the defence industry. We work across multiple domains including defence (Land, Air, Maritime) Cyber, Space and Intelligence on lots of exciting projects and weare looking for an Electronics, Control & Instrumentation Engineers to join our engineering team to be responsible for developing, maintaining and sustaining our instrumentation systems.The EC&I candidate will need experience of controls and instrumentation systems as well as practical knowledge of experience with Programme Logic Controllers, Supervisory control and data acquisition systems (ideally LabVIEW). They will also understand theintegration of instrumentation, sensors and data systems as well as previous experience with plant control systems.These roles will be on-site in Farnborough, and will support our businesses in across the UK.Main Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day scheduling and supervising of the facilitys electronic activity
  • Maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, modifying, fault finding and maintenance of control and electronic systems on-site
  • Be actively involved in the calibration and running of tests and trialling, managing the workshops capability with electronics and instrumentation by ensuring activity complies with the H&S policies and requirements; whilst supporting the facilitys manager
  • Safely operate plant equipment in an effective manner
  • Dealing and communicating with internal and external stakeholders in regard to current and future needs relating to interfaces and equipment
  • Prep, maintain and review documents for electronic, controls & instrumentation of control systems
  • Propose and contribute to the developing of electronic system programmes
Key Skills & ExperienceThe following areas of experience would be desirable but not essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of different control and instrumentation techniques and control systems
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, preferably LabVIEW, programming language
  • General knowledge of distributed data management in a test environment.
  • Experience with electric & electronic motor drivers, both open and closed
  • Understanding of computer software & hardware as well as commercial test equipment and sensor systems interfaces; load cells, temperature transducers, accelerometers, typical sensors including pressure transducers, strain gauges and more
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital devices, electronic components, hardware and software, data processing, collection, networks and communications, and also video signals
  • Understanding of Electronic and Electrical schematics, drawings and assembling equipment
  • Experience of H&S practice & requirements
  • Leadership experience to some degree
