Job Description

I am recruiting for a temporary Buyer for my client based in Diss. This is initially a fixed term contract role for 4 months and is full time with hybrid working offered.You will be responsible for carrying out all procurement aspects associated to the purchasing of PCBAs and electronic commodity.Daily duties:

  • Purchase goods, materials, components and services within cost, quality, and delivery targets for commodity(s) owned.
  • Ensure that owned SC Commodity(s), is/are aligned and managed to Operational and associated Project needs whilst optimising working capital (Inventory)
  • Ensure that the MRP system is maintained to provide Optimal supply
  • Drive down costs and work on cost reduction initiatives without affecting quality or delivery.
  • Research new components and suppliers.
  • Continue the development/maintain excellent supplier relationships with key supply partners – hosting weekly progress meetings with Key Suppliers
  • Evaluate supplier performance, contributing to performance reviews to ensure contract/operational compliance. Promote appropriate Continuous Improvement, facilitating and managing to completion.
  • Represent Supply Chain at designated Project reviews
  • In conjunction with the Head of Supply Chain, engage with key suppliers to negotiate and agree acceptable commercial terms that are in the Companys best interest.
  • Support the Head of Supply Chain with forecasting future purchasing requirements.
  • Support the resolution of commodity associated issues i.e invoicing, inventory control etc…
Requirements for the role:
  • Preferably CIPS Qualified or working towards an equivalent purchasing qualification
  • Demonstrable experience of procuring PCBA’s and Electronics preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment or low-volume electronics sector
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding, and cost breakdown
  • Experience of working closely with suppliers
  • Able to add value, reduce costs and input to business improvements
  • Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills and experience of MRP systems
