Job Description

Contract Personnel Thetford are recruiting for a Fleet Engineer on behalf of one of our favourite clients based in Eye, Suffolk.The ideal candidate will be experienced in fleet management and the procurement of HGV vehicles and trailers.Purpose of the roleThe Fleet Engineer will hold responsibility for ensuring agreed and expected standards of work are consistently delivered, as well as standards of customer service, health, and safety. You will effectively manage the safe operation of all business fleetassets and be the technical point of contact for all engineering, maintenance, and safe operations issues for the business fleet. Legally responsible person, for ensuring the road worthiness of the fleet operates in accordance with current legislation alongwith responsibility for the monitoring and overseeing activities within the business.Duties and Key Responsibilities include(but are not limited to);

  • As the FE you are in charge of managing a team of technical staff members and ownership of every fleet maintenance item.
  • You are responsible for the procurement processes, vendor contracts and approve requisitions.
  • You will ensure your team of technical and non-technical staff; undertake the necessary training required by H&S or current legislation for their position and schedule sufficient time for its completion.
  • In charge of the day-to-day operations and managing all processes and functions within.
  • Using Fleet Management Systems (FMS) to monitor and manage stock control and the fleet.
  • Arranging the hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring of technical and non-technical staff and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with all current legislation and regulation issued by government or local authorities.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety regulations in accordance with Health and Safety Policy as documented in the Health and Safety Manual.
  • Preparing operational reports detailing Financials, Performance, KPIs, Incidents and Accidents as required.
