Job Description

An Applications Engineer is required for a well established OEM of CNC machine tools here in the UK.As one of the global leaders in CNC machine tools, their reputation for quality and reliability is respected by their customers. They have an amazing network of skilled engineers across service, applications, pre and post sales support. On top of this, theyhave departments dedicated to projects, technical support and applications, to ensure customers receive the very best experience when purchasing a new machine.Theres a fantastic training package on offer with this role, to learn more about their products including the turning, milling and mill-turn combi machines.Benefits include a basic salary of up to £50K depending on experience, overtime paid when in the field, a company vehicle with hybrid options, private pension, Life assurance, 33 days holiday, laptop and brand new phone, extensive ongoing training and careerprogression.Responsibilities for the role include -

  • Provide a high standard of technical support to customers in terms of machine demonstrations
  • Prepare and prove machining methods, strategies and cycle time estimations, designed to provide solutions to customers manufacturing problems.
  • Working on a range of machining centres and mill turn combis
  • Assisting customers with troubleshooting support and guidance, either remotely or on site
  • Supporting installation teams with new machine installations, providing the customer with user training and operating instructions
  • Use of CAM software, as well as creating programmes long hand at the machine
  • Frequent travel to customer sites all over the UK for demos and training, with overnight stays required at times
Youll be working within an already established team of applications engineers, collaborating and working towards the same goal, so being able to work effectively with colleagues, as well as representing the brand on site with customers is absolutely essential.If youre working on the shop floor as a CNC Programmer but looking to go into applications, this would be a fantastic step up the ladder in your career!To be successful as an applications engineer, were looking for the following skills and experience -- Previously an Applications Engineer, CNC Programmer, or CNC Manufacturing Engineer- Ability to programme CNC Mills or Mill Turn combis, writing programmes longhand to machine complex parts- Be able to demonstrate cutting method techniques, tooling suggestions, and a high level of exposure to machining a variety of materials- Willingness to travel nationally, and be prepared to stay overnight if required- Clean driving licenseASC Connections Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
