Job Description

HCA UK are incredibly proud to be awarded ‘Private Hospital Group of the Year ‘ 2020 at the Health Investor Awards.Job - Senior Pharmacy TechnicianLocation - The Lister Hospital, LondonContract Type - Permanent, 37.5 hours per week on a shift basis each week (8.30am to 4.30pm, 9am to 5pm, 10am to 6pm, 11am to 7pm).Weekends on a rotational basis 9am to 2pm but can be longer.Salary Range - Competitive (dependent upon skills and experience)Job DescriptionAs a key member of the Pharmacy Team you will assist in the provision of acomprehensive pharmacy service which consistently meet the needs of all serviceusers within The Lister Hospital.You will also contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of the dispensary, working under the direct supervision of a Clinical Pharmacist and receiving Pharmacist support.Attractive and competitive salary, dependent upon skills and experience, along with access to great employee benefits such as private healthcare, gymflex and the option to buy and sell holiday.Duties and responsibilitiesPurchasing Duties:

  • To assist in the purchasing of all pharmaceuticals into the pharmacy department.
  • To assist in the day to day ordering as requested and liaise with HCA corporate purchasing department to ensure that all purchasing decisions and processes are in line with HCA purchasing contracts, guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • To assist in ensuring an effective pharmacy perpetual stock control system.
  • To assist in the co-coordinating procedures for products which have been recalled/associated with alerts.
  • Supervisory Duties:
  • To collaborate with pharmacy staff and customers to develop effective systems of practice and effectively manage staffing workflow patterns within the dispensary.
  • To assist in the orientation and induction of new pharmacy staff and non-clinical hospital staff in the dispensary.
  • To provide checking (ACT) cover for the inpatient and outpatient dispensary when needed. If not a current ACT, should be currently working towards achieving this.
  • Dispensary Duties:
  • To participate in the dispensing of pharmacy items and provide medication counseling to HCA patients.
  • To maintain and develop prescription documentation systems and to assist in the capture of revenue from all sources available to the department.
  • To participate in a rota system of work to include early/late shifts including the weekends and bank holidays.
  • Skills and experience
  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • BTec National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or Equivalent
  • At least 1 year post-registration experience
  • Accredited Checking Technician or working towards this at the time of appointment
  • About the Facility: The Lister Hospital and its outpatient centres are located in the heart of Chelsea, and have consistently provided care and treatment in London for over 30 years. We offer access to leading consultants from Londons top teaching hospitals and contemporary treatment, with several highly specialised units including fertility, gastroenterology medicine and orthopaedics and surgery. With 60 beds across three floors, we offer a specialised service, bespoke to our patient’s needs. Our six-bed critical care unit provides dedicated specialised care to seriously ill patients with a range of surgical or medical conditions.
