Job Description

Clinical Research Fellow Neuro RehabilitationLondon: Collaboration with UCL Queen Square and The Wellington Hospital (HCA Healthcare UK)Contract: 3-5 Years to commence asap.To commence September 2020 Rewards:

  • The Clinical element of the role, based at The Wellington is a commitment of 120 hours every 4 weeks. This will be on a rolling rota which will include a combination of weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Salary £45000 per annum
  • Full running costs, in addition to the salary, including registration and higher degree is fully funded and provided by HCA Healthcare UK- Wellington Hospital until complete.
  • The fellows additionally benefit from the close proximity to world-leading research departments including the Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging, the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, and research departments within the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology. Clinical Fellows will have access to common activities such as journal clubs, cohort building activities, relevant training and development, pastoral care, and will be part of the Institute’s other networks of postgraduate students and staff.
  • This is a tremendous opportunity to jointly develop a research career while working between two prestigious organisations.UCL and the Wellington Hospital are delighted to announce they are recruiting to a new fellowship scheme which offers junior doctors an opportunity to study for a PhD in Neurorehabilitation at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, while working at the UKs largest private hospital providing specialist acute and early multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation after neurological events.Clinically based at The Wellington Hospital in St John’s Wood London, part of HCA Healthcare UK, this is suitable for Fellows who wish to undertake a period of basic and/or Neurorehabilitation research prior to continuation of specialist training.Skills and Experience required;
  • Applicants must be medical doctors who are registered with the GMC with a current licence to practise and hold MRCP or an equivalent postgraduate medical diploma.
  • They should have significant post graduate clinical experience (not including Foundation modules), of which at least 6 months in clinical neurology, stroke medicine or rehabilitation medicine at SHO and/or SpR level and display good spoken and written command of the English language.
  • Further Information:Fellows are able to select their research project and work with a team of supervisors from across the range of disciplines in the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, which involves dedicated research departments, in particular the Department of Clinical and Movement Neuroscience (where the programme is based).The programme is closely linked to two clinical rehabilitation programmes at the nearby National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, one for aphasia and one for upper limb rehabilitation.
