Job Description

In a Nutshell…We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Timber Frame Designer to join our team within Vistry Works, to be based at either Warrington or East Midlands (Coalville). As our Senior Timber Frame Designer, working under the Design Manager, you willbe managing various projects as required. You will be responsible for accuracy, quality and ensuring deadlines are met whilst also be undertaking the key tasks of the Timber Frame Designer.Lets cut to the chase, whats in it for you…

  • Previous experience in a similar role elsewhere, either in Modern Methods of Construction or Offsite Manufacturing/Construction
  • You will have experience of 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit or Inventor.
  • Competency in using WoodEngine, Consultec, Horizon, HSBcad or similar software is essential to the role
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Teams
  • You will have an understanding of materials/components used in the construction of low-rise buildings
  • You will need to be self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative and manage your workload based on regional priorities
  • Ability to coach and mentor your team to create continuous improvement
  • You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with steel detailing required
  • Experience with "I" Joist floor design required
  • Experience with designing trussed roofs required
  • An understanding of current building regulations
  • Revit & Pamir experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Qualification in Architectural Technology would be advantageous but not essential
More about the Senior Timber Frame Designer role…
  • Assist in the preparation, design and coordination of new timber frame house types, alongside the different methodologies for our current range of standard house types.
  • Assist in producing accurate and efficient wall and floor panel designs in line with specification, including producing cutting lists and CNC files for the factory
  • To work in conjunction with our external manufacturers and suppliers and our internal production team
  • Any other ad hoc duties that may required from time to time, as directed by the team leader
  • To be given more responsibility and be Project lead on designated jobs
  • Responsible for team members hitting deadlines and being aware of required design dates
  • To be responsible for accuracy and quality of work of the team
  • To offer practical advice on technical issues and problem solving
  • To offer technical advice to Factory & site as required
  • To attend pre-let meetings and site visits as required
  • Any other ad hoc duties that may required from time to time, as directed by your line manager
