Job Description

Job RoleJob description:As a Support Worker working for Castle View Groups Children and Young Peoples Bespoke Service, you will be expected to:·Providing the day - to - day trauma, informed care and support set out in the child/young person’s Care Plan.

  • Safeguard and promote the rights and well-being of the children and young people that you are supporting.
  • Provide care and support to enable the children and young people to develop their full potential, i.e., cooking meals, keeping the home clean and tidy.
  • Use child-centered care and support that ensures children and young people receive care and support that responds to their individual needs.
  • To promote healthy lifestyle choices through their structure and routine.
  • A strong commitment to the rights of the children and young people is essential and involving children and young people in matters and decisions that affect their lives, including education, training, and employment.
  • A commitment to child-centered planning: putting and including the child / young person at the heart of the planning process. High standards of conduct and practice and good communication skills are essential.
  • Support Workers must have a caring attitude, be supportive, kind, reliable, fair, patient, objective, flexible, trustworthy, nonjudgmental and be a positive role model.
  • You must be willing to recognise and work within professional boundaries, taking advice from managers and colleagues, as appropriate
  • You must be able to practice in a way that supports the development of positive behavior of the children and young people we work with. This includes complying with policies, procedures and practice that support child-centered approaches to the developmentof positive behavior.
  • Be able to work in partnership with other agencies - working in collaboration.
  • Facilitating access to the community, cultural and leisure activities. Transporting as and when necessary.(You will need relevant business insurance)
  • To ensure that the procedures for the security, monitoring, administration, and control of medication are followed. Undertake training to achieve competency in specialist procedures.
  • Family Time’ where specified in the Care Plan. It is important for looked after children and young people to have contact with their birth families.
  • Philomena Protocol’. You MUST try and contact the young person, including searching in known places, contacting known associates however possible. If the young person cannot be located you MUST inform the Police, Social Worker, and EDT during out of hours.
  • Maintain the log/incident books and email the relevant Case Manager the daily notes. Ensure a safe, secure, and comprehensive handover to the colleague(s) coming on shift.
  • Notify Case Manager of all incidents including self-harm, running/missing, substance misuse. Any violence toward staff/public and damage to property. If out of hours this MUST be reported to EDT.
  • To work flexible hours including weekends, bank holidays; be available to sleep in if required, according to the needs of the service.
Participate in training courses as arranged.·Adhere to all Organisational Policies and Procedures relating to Safeguarding, Health and Safety, General Data Protection Regulations. (GDPR)Qualifications and experience
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with Children and Young People with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of childcare legislation & regulations and a basic understanding of Childrens Rights
Supervision Received - Regular supervision from the Manager in accordance with the Supervision Policy/contract.Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, PermanentCOVID-19 considerations:Covid-19 Policies and Procedures in place which all new candidates will have to adhere to upon taking up post.
