How would you like to help farmers in the North East deliver in a challenging economic and political environmentThe NFU is looking for an Assistant Environment Adviser to assist members with the challenges they face in this wide-ranging role from planning Climate Change to agri-environment schemes, from utilities to national parks, you will be supporting the NFU and its members in the North East, providing professional guidance and technical reports and support that their businesses need.Assistant Advisor Responsibilities:Based in the North East Region, you will work on and support initiatives that will protect and further our members’ interests and, as a result of this work, be able to make policy recommendations to the NFU’s internal decision-making bodies.Reporting to the Senior Environment & Land Use Adviser for the North East, you will work in conjunction with regional colleagues, HQ staff and other appropriate local professionals. Knowledge of agriculture, the associated environmental agenda and key land use issues are key requirements and experience of providing support to farmers and growers on environmental issues is essential. Familiarity of working with various sector boards and town and country planning would be advantageous.About NFU:The National Farmers’ Union is the voice of British farming, and our members are at the heart of what we do.
