Job Description

Sustainability Manager - Event Space - East London - up to £60k + bonusWe are looking for a Sustainability Manager, with demonstrable experience in a similar sustainability management role, in-depth understanding of sustainability and the regulatory framework and excellent written skills, to join a leadingevents venue in the Docklands, London.Joining a world class venue, the Sustainability Manager will work across all teams to drive focus and act as a knowledge provider on all sustainability matters. You will be responsible for sustainability across the venue and campus, settingand managing targets and objectives. You will influence venue and campus deliverables including utilities, community engagement and all sustainability issues and you will establish and coordinate projects whilst supporting relationships with internal and externalstakeholders, suppliers and contractors.Key responsibilities as the Sustainability Manager will include:

  • Setting, communicating, monitoring and driving achievements against specific sustainability related key performance indicators
  • Ensuring that targets are designed to minimise the environmental impact of the venue
  • Ensuring that all on-site projects have sustainability agendas and targets
  • Identifying and setting targets for cost reductions derived from sustainability objectives
  • Working with the Purchasing Manager to oversee all energy costs and contracts
  • Researching, reviewing and adopting leading edge initiatives
  • Overseeing internal compliance against specific certification and standards (ISO14001, ISO20121, ISO50001)
  • Ensuring that all contractors abide by and report on sustainability compliance requirements
  • Working with Marketing and Communications to contribute information about achievements against targets and compliance
  • Creating a strong and knowledgable Sustainability Committee from various departments
  • Ensuring regular and structured reporting is produced

What were looking for:
  • Previous experience in a similar Sustainability Management role
  • Member of a relevant professional Institute (EI, CIBSE, IEMA or similar)
  • Sustainability degree or similar professional qualification
  • In-depth understanding of sustainability and the regulatory framework, familiarity with the ISO auditing process and requirements to maintain compliance
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to summarise and communicate key objectives, outcomes and ambitions in relation to sustainability
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and engage
  • IT literate
