Job Description

MS460 - ServiceEngineerLocation:DerbySalary:£30,000 - £35,000per annumOverview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking aService Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate will be responsible forrepairing and maintenance of customer owned equipment; including preparation andtesting ofequipment for sales, rental and loan. You willprovide application engineering support for processing of weld samples; includingdeveloping and proving the tooling and techniques necessary to meet the requirements ofindividual enquiries, salesorders and product development.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an efficient and organised service area keeping a detailed and accurate dailyrecord of work performed for entry and compilation of service reports, calibration records,repair quotes and sales orders as required.
  • Mechanical Parts: Function test and fault finding , strip, clean, assess, repair & replace parts, rebuild & test.
  • Cable Assemblies: Function test and fault finding, control cable repair and replacement including soldering of connector terminations etc.
  • Controllers: Completion of software updates, function test and fault finding, routine calibration, validation & PAT testing.
  • Liaise with customers and colleagues as required to ensure a prompt and timely responseto meet the particular needs of the customer, this may include providing repair and partsquotations, quote follow up, expediting purchase orders for the same, providingtechnicalassistance and advice etc.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of weld procedures and orbital applications completedfor sales enquiries, sales orders and ‘special’ projects.
  • Manufacture of small parts and assemblies for service, application and ‘special projects’ asrequired.
  • Assist with design, development, manufacture and test of new and ‘special’ products asrequired.
  • Processing of deliveries and shipments related to purchase orders, sales orders and stockhandling as required
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Good level of mechanical engineering skills (toolmaking or similar background).
  • A good basic understanding of electrical principles and the practical application.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience within a similar role is essential.
