Job Description

SEN Teacher JOB PURPOSE:Career Teachers are seeking an exceptional SEN Teacher to work in a Special Educational Needs School in a fantastic SEN High School situated in the heart of Derbyshire, close to public transport links.Career Teachers are delighted to be working with a well-respected SEN school with an inclusive environment for both students and staff. The school at present are looking for a strong, enthusiastic, and resilient teacher with a wealth of SEN experience evenif this is in a mainstream school, ECTs may also be consider if right applicant.WHAT - you do!

  • Provide personalised support and work with children with SEND.
  • Create a safe environment that allows the children to have fun, learn and excel.
  • Work with groups of students under the supervision of the teacher including the delivery of therapy programmes of work and the implementation of Individual Learning Plans.
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team and changing the lives of young people with additional learning needs.

  • Transparent with everyone, always being open and honest and clear, being a conscious member of a team by working in collaboration with SLCN therapists, SENCOs, and support staff, giving feedback and communicating consistently.
  • Skilled - Be prepared to have an effective behaviour management strategy in place.
  • Resilient with your approach to teaching, finding the best methods and tools to support learners.
  • An interest in working with students with SEND.
  • An adaptive and flexible approach to learning.
  • Existing experience working with children or adults with SEND experience in a school setting is not essential but supporting children in another capacity is a must.
  • Must have QTS and SEN experience
