Job Description

Job Title: Production TechnicianReporting to: Lead Braiding TechnicianLocation: Derby

As a critical member of the operations team, you will be able to influenceand support that growth and ultimately share in its success.
  1. Overall Purpose of the Role:
The main purpose of the Production Technician role is to practically support the operations team in all activities involved in delivering a diverse range of innovative composite components. You will be responsible for a wide range of production activities,at all stages of the ground-breaking composite braiding process, including braiding machine set-ups and preventative maintenance, braiding machine operation, mould tool preparation, consolidation of components using ovens and cutting edge out-of-oven technology,finishing/assembly work for products ranging from bicycle components to streetlamps, including automotive, rail, aerospace and leisure products; and segregation and reprocessing of production waste to support zero-waste, carbon-neutral targets. Supportingthese main activities, you will also be involved in quality and logistics activities - preparing products to be shipped. You will be instrumental in process development; continuous improvement; new product implementation; manufacturing line/cell development;setting, tracking and delivering KPIs; and the specification and procurement of new equipment.
  1. The Person
OverviewYou will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of manufacturing techniques and methodologies with a strong practical background and record of delivering production activities to deadlines, and a good understanding of production schedulingand logging, process development and control. While experience of composites manufacturing techniques such as braiding, filament winding or AFP/ATP, along with composites fitting would be advantageous, it is not essential.You will have proven practical skills including experience of operating and ideally maintaining machinery and be able to demonstrate competence with a range of hand and power tools to work precisely to established processes to deliver production components,and creatively to solve problems and deliver first-of-a-kind prototypes. Due to the nature of a small business like this, you will not always have strict guidance around your workload. You will be expected to be able to manage on-going production and prototypingwork, delivering to agreed timing and demonstrating good judgement in resolving small issues independently, but escalating issues when appropriate.Most importantly, you will be someone who can see and be excited by the potential the company and this role offers.

  1. Remuneration
  • Salary: £26k - 32k neg.
  • Pension Statutory
