Job Description

Category Manager - Professional Services3 month (temp)Up to £300 p/d - PAYEDerby, DerbyshireHamilton Woods is currently recruiting a temporary Category Manager for their Higher Education client based in Derby. A permanent role may be available should that be of interest to the successful candidate.The Category Manager will execute the category management strategy for said designated category. Apply best practices for supplier relationship management and contract management. Employ category management toolkits as necessary to ensure practices are effective and compliant with regulation and policy. Provide training and support to your stakeholders and wider communities, to drive best practice and compliance into these communities.Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With support from the Senior Category Manager, develop and maintain your category strategy across a portfolio of procurement commodities using appropriate tools and techniques to inform decision making and deliver various savings and value.
  • Maintain and review various procurement systems and processes to ensure these remain effective and complaint with regulation. Provide training and support to our stakeholders and wider communities periodically and help to drive best practice and compliance into these communities.
  • Work with stakeholders to consolidate requirements to develop clear, detailed specifications and provide recommendations/procurement strategies for your assigned portfolio and to assist the Senior Category Manger / Head of Category Management on opportunities for consolidation.
  • The successful candidate:
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply MCIPS qualified (Minimum Level 5 or working towards)
  • Degree in Procurement/Business or equivalent level of work experience
  • Maths and English to GCSE or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a category manager with demonstrable experience of defining and managing a portfolio of spend categories
  • Planning and delivering tender projects under the Public Contract Regulations / OJEU using electronic tendering platforms. Knowledge and experience of using Framework Agreements.
