Job Description Aircraft Evaluation EngineerDerby / HybridFull timeThe Product Development Engineering & Technology Team based in Civil Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Evaluation Engineer to join the Whole Aircraft Group within our Large Engine Design Centre of Excellence in Derby.The Whole Aircraft Group is the resource group that provides aircraft evaluation, noise and flight operations engineering capability to the business.The Aircraft Evaluation team analyse aircraft requirements and characteristics to ensure competitiveness of new engine designs, creates preliminary design views of competitive positions of aircraft and engines in terms of payload capability, fuel burn, economics,forecast customer thrust usage, provides consultancy service to all parts of the aerospace business, and develops methods and tools to enable the assessment and understanding of aircraft performance and operation.Work with us and well welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. We are looking for a pro-active individual that identifies opportunities to improveour aircraft conceptual design capability and influence engine design and operation.In this role you will work with various stakeholders within the Civil Aerospace Business mainly across Engineering and Customer Team functions.

• Assess overall aircraft concepts and integrate powerplant solutions to ensure top level aircraft requirements are met.
• Integrate with engine project teams, sales and marketing, systems engineering, environmental specialists, and sub-systems design to evaluate engine design at aircraft level.
• Synthesize and integrate multidisciplinary information regarding aircraft design, performance and operation and actively collaborate in the evolution of engine design throughout the various development phases.
• Perform technical studies on vehicle performance of new and existing aircraft, ranging from high level competitive assessments to detail flight segment analysis.
• Develop and improve aircraft performance and conceptual design methods and tools

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
• Knowledge and experience of aircraft design, performance, and operation
• Enthusiasm and knowledge of commercial aviation landscape, from commuter to widebody aircraft.
• Understanding of gas turbine performance fundamentals.
• Ability to understand and synthesize information from numerous sources into a consistent argument
• Good communication and presentation skills, and be comfortable discussing with people at all levels of the organisation
• Ability to deal with different stakeholders and subjects
• Working knowledge of one or more programming languages (C#, Matlab, Python)
