Job Description

Were a team of more than 1,000 employeesacross five continents providing solutions to healthcare, industrial and institutional markets across the world.SC Johnson Professionalis a business unit within SC Johnson, a family-owned and led company and leading manufacturer of quality, trusted products since 1886.Perm - Full Time - Denby, DerbyshireCommitted to continuous improvement in our plant production facilities and continuing to strive for world-class sustainable production - we have an exciting opportunity in our R&D team for a Processing Engineer.Responsibilities or our Processing Engineer: The Processing Engineerwill be responsible for mixing process development and process improvement /troubleshooting activities related to both new and existing product development projects. The individual will execute both pilot and productionplant trials, gather and analyze data and prepare written reports to aptly provide feedback and direction to project and capability teams.This role will support the development of products and processes to provide viable, technical solutions, for implementation within production facilities throughout the SCJ Professional Group. Analyze data from pilot plant trials and production operationsto determine where and how improvements can best be made. Assist in the development, sharing and implementation of best practices.The role will report into the Formulation Manager.

  • Coordination of the design and implementation of pilot plant equipment.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of laboratory and pilot plant activities in order to provide new product samples, experimental data, & test results
  • Undertake process development trials as necessary to transfer new or improved processes from the bench scale to pilot plant scale
  • Assist in the transfer of new or improved processes to the commercial scale
  • Support and carry out qualification and validation activities for new products/ processes as required.
  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving skills to evaluate and correct formulation and mixing method -related issues to maintain production schedules and product quality
  • Prepare reports, specifications and presentations to communicate findings
  • Develop detailed documentation of manufacturing processes for commercialization either internally or externally.
  • Provide strong technical leadership within cross-functional teams.
  • Execute global development projects by creating and following effective and efficient project timelines and related success criteria to realize on-time project completion dates.
Previous Experience / Knowledge required of ourProcessing Engineer:
  • Minimum of 3 years process engineering experience in the field of liquid detergents & emulsions or a related transferable area such as brewing / distilling processes
  • Ability to analyze complex information and perform root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including anticipation and communication of risk profile and mitigation plans
  • Experience of working at wet/bench chemistry scale environment.
  • Experience of working within facilities adhering to GMP
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering or directly related competency
Desirable
  • Experience of design and implementation of industrial equipment within GMP environments.
  • Technical expertise in multiple chemistries and product formats relevant to the SCJ Professional product portfolio.

  • Cross functional project management of new products
  • Plant installation experience highly desirable
Competencies and Skills
  • Strong analytical and empirical skills.
  • Good to high level of computer literacy. Including good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentation; including effective story-telling to the non-technical individual
  • Ability to effectively manage time, including the ability to prioritize, work within assigned deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Strategic thinking and action to effectively navigate complex and/or ambiguous situations
