The Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and suitably qualified individual to undertake the role of:Band 6 - Fire Safety AdvisorThis is a key position within the Facilities Directorate’s Fire Safety Management Team.The successful individual will be appointed as the acute based fire safety advisor and will be expected to provide expert healthcare fire safety advice at both strategic and operational levels.This role will be based at the Prince Philip Hospital site in Llanelli, however you will also have responsibilities for a variety of other community and smaller sites under your work remit. You may also be required to work at any of the Health Boards sites.You will be expected to work very closely with your line manager – The Head of Fire Safety Management - and other staff such as hospital general managers, senior clinical staff, relevant stakeholders and external agencies. As Fire Safety Advisor (FSA) you will need to demonstrate continual professionalism and leadership skills in the context of healthcare fire safety management in order to support the organisation’s strategic agenda for fire safety precautions.This role will be responsible for ensuring the Health Board has the appropriate mechanisms in place to meet its obligations under Fire Safety Law. This will require development, implementation and the continual reviewing of robust Fire Safety Management systems, risk assessments, management processes, policies and procedures in order to effectively manage and minimise the risks associated with fire safety.As FSA, you will be considered as a key advisor for all technical aspects of fire safety. You will be required to collaborate with key responsible persons/managers/directors to ensure that there is collective corporate ownership for fire safety, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all health board staff, patients and visitors.As FSA, you will also be expected to form strong day to day working relationships with your fellow FSA’s, based at other acute sites and relevant site based operational maintenance staff, engineers, discretionary and major capital project teams, Soft FM staff and the property management section.Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and technical healthcare guidance such as Health Building Notes (HBN’s), Building Regulations, Health Technical Memoranda (HTM), British Standards (BS), Fire Code, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other documents relative to the role.The post holder will be an integral part of a strong team culture, working closely with your Senior Line Manager and other Senior Regional Operational Managers, such as the Assistant Head of Operational Facilities Management, Head of Operations and the Director of Facilities, Estates and Capital Planning.Interviews will be held on 04/02/2021.For further details / informal visits contact:NameGareth LloydJob titleHead of Fire SafetyEmail addressgareth.lloyd10@wales.nhs.ukTelephone numberAdditional contact information
