Specialty Doctor in Palliative MedicineSwansea Bay University Health BoardSalary: £37,923 - £70,719 per annum, based on experience (basic 10 sessions ) This is a Fixed term post (6 to 12 months)We are looking for a Specialty Doctor with vision and drive to join our motivated and skilled multi-professional team in providing specialist inpatient, community (including domiciliary, outpatient and day care) and hospital palliative care to support to patients with advanced, life shortening illnesses in South Wales.The post offers excellent opportunities to gain experience in all aspects of palliative medicine. The post is based at Ty Olwen, situated in the grounds of the Morriston Hospital, Swansea. Previous post holders have been supported with CESAR application and others have gone on to speciality training in specialist palliative care.The post-holder will primarily work within the Specialist Inpatient Unit and Swansea Community (which is part of the wider Swansea Bay University Health Board Specialist Palliative Care Service).However there may be opportunities to experience hospital work and to work in the Neath locality also. The Multi-professional Team, including Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Health Care Support Worker, OT and Physiotherapy, work closely with other health and social care professionals to support patients across all care settings. The post holder will participate in the 1 in 6 non-residential medical on-call rota, supported by Consultant on-call.The department is committed to supporting the advancement of palliative care. We work closely with both Cardiff and Swansea Universities, along with other university and college partners in South Wales. There are excellent education centres at the major hospitals with a full programme of activities. Located in South Wales, the area offers a mixture of dramatic coastlines, areas of outstanding natural beauty, commerce and industry activity.
