Applications are invited for a Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine at Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea.This is a 10 session post. The successful candidate will be based in Morriston Hospital and will join a team of eight full-time and two academic colleagues who together work across Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot Hospitals. He/she will join with five Respiratory Physicians and 25 colleagues in other medical specialities, who together support the acute General Medical intake at Morriston. Access to mentorship that is tailored to your personal needs will be coordinated. Secretarial and administrative support will be provided.The Respiratory Unit at Morriston Hospital provides a referral service for the diagnosis and management of a wide range of respiratory disease. The Unit has a strong ethos of team working and has close working relations with colleagues in Thoracic Surgery, Radiology and Histopathology. There is currently a weekly ILD clinic and monthly MDT. Specialist bronchoscopy techniques (EBUS, stent insertion, cryotherapy etc) are performed on the weekly bronchoscopy list at Morriston.Swansea and the surrounding area provides a wonderful lifestyle opportunity and is renowned for being one of the most beautiful places in the UK, including the Gower Peninsula and the spectacular mountains of the Brecon Beacons. The region offers excellent quality schools and an abundance of outdoor activities such as surfing, mountain biking, fishing, sailing, hiking and walking in a natural and clean environment. Reasonable property prices and excellent state schools contribute to low living costs and high quality of life.
