Applications are invited for 2 Consultant Nephrologist posts based at Morriston Hospital in Swansea. This is a large teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre of about 750 beds. It has a busy Emergency Department and houses the Regional Nephrology Unit. It also has the Regional Neurology and Cardiothoracic units and the Welsh National Burns and Plastics Unit.Morriston Hospital has expanded considerably in recent years and planning is well under way for new clinical and academic buildings on site.Swansea, the second largest city in Wales, and its neighbouring stunning Gower Peninsula, is a wonderful place to live. A seaside city with a university ranking among the top UK 12 for many disciplines, it has all the cultural and business attributes one would expect, as well as a flourishing sports scene.You will be able to live in Gower, with the beach close to your door and the most popular activity surfing, in the beautiful Swansea Valley, close to the mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park, or alternatively in the chic SA1 Maritime Quarter. There is excellent state schooling. Most people who come here temporarily, love it and stay. There are good links to Cardiff and London both via rail and the M4 motorway.This is a replacement post joining a team of 7 other Consultant Nephrologists. The Renal department at Morriston has two on-site 2 Dialysis units and is responsible for 3 satellite sites located at Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Haverfordwest. Renal inpatients are admitted to a dedicated ward at Morriston.
