Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiac Intensive CareApplications are invited for a one year Clinical Fellow post in anaesthesia, with an interest in in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care to commence immediately. This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic and ambitious individuals wishing to follow a career in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. Working in the anaesthetic directorate at Swansea Bay University Health Board also offers a unique opportunity for individuals wishing to achieve the CESR requirements as we offer a wide range of different anaesthetic specialties.Morriston Hospital Cardiac Centre undertakes over 700 adult cardiac and 350 Thoracic operations a year providing ample opportunity to become an independent practitioner in this subspecialty.This post will suit applicants with minimum of three years anaesthetic experience and are looking at enhancing their experience. This is a non- training post and does not have deanery approval for training. However, the department will endeavor to provide educational & training opportunities to successful applicants. There is potential to rotate to other modular training in line with Royal College of Anaesthetists training requirements for deanery-approved posts. This will suit clinicians considering registration via CESR route.The post will be based mainly at Morriston Hospital and will provide opportunities to gain good experience in a wide range of adult cardiothoracic anaesthesia and cardiac intensive care. Candidates will be encouraged to undertake audit with the support of the department.The post is flexible and has a 1:8 on-call commitment on a full shift rota system. The out of hour’s duties will be mainly based at Morriston Hospital primarily providing cover to cardiac intensive care, emergency cardiothoracic theatre and cath-lab.
