Job Description

Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Facades Estimating Manager based in Castlecary, CumbernauldOur client are pioneers in faade engineering, and are one of the leading faade solution providers in the UK. They offer complete building envelope solutions spanning multiple sectors and some of the most complex and architecturally challenging new buildand retrofit projects across the UK.This role will lead the Facades estimating team through developing and maintaining standard processes and ensuring new projects are priced competitively and accurately using up to date technical knowledge and expertise.Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing tender enquiries to ascertain whether the project is suitable based on package value, specified system, package complexity, programme and site location.
  • Assigning tenders / projects to Estimators for completion
  • Managing relationships and regular communication with key product system providers
  • Reviewing tender packs to ensure all necessary information (drawings / specifications) is provided and liaising with relevant contractor to obtain any further information that is required.
  • Analysing tender enquiries and preparing costs for time, materials and labour
  • Producing budget estimates for cost consultants, system suppliers and other parties.
  • Liaising with external suppliers for job specific quotes ensuring the most accurate and cost-effective pricing is obtained and accounted for.
  • Attending and organising tender review meetings
  • Working with internal Facades departments (procurement / planning / operations / design) to obtain their expertise on pricing and tenders
  • Supporting with expanding a list of preferred suppliers to ensure the best quality products are selected at the most cost-effective prices.
  • Reviewing all completed pricing with Estimators, and Facades Director if pricing level dictates, prior to final submission.
  • Following up tender submissions ensuring regular feedback
  • Applying the principles of Value Engineering to ensure that customers are provided with alternative costings
  • Upon securing a new project, producing and distributing the internal handover document to relevant departments
  • Managing and maintaining the monthly pipeline report ensuring key targets are listed with potential timelines, value and likelihood of success.
Desired knowledge, skills and experience
  • Knowledge of current UK building regulations;
  • At least 5 years experience in a senior estimating role within the construction industry, ideally within Facades.
  • Knowledge of Business Micros, Estimating Software systems is desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Logikal and K-Pro estimating software
