Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer with a proven track record in the Automotive or Aerospace Industry to join our team based in Coventry. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary.About the role:As our Buyer, you will support the NPI process and development of low carbon and green technologies from early-stage concepts through to production launch. The role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of innovative designswith the aim of procuring materials for both prototypes and volume manufacturing solutions.What you will be doing as our Buyer:- In conjunction with the Engineering team, identify a supply chain suitable to manufacture new and existing product designs- Managing & develop new and existing supplier relationships for the procurement of raw Materials, components, factored items, third party services, capital equipment, tooling, consumables, office equipment, services, and utilities for prototype and productionvolumes- Negotiate purchase agreements with supply chain on new and existing projects- Benchmark, select and purchase quality products and materials- Building relationships with suppliers and negotiate the best prices- Processing purchase requisitions, schedules and update all stakeholders on status of orders- Be responsible for maintaining the MRP system on new and existing projects- Updating inventory and ensure that stock levels are maintained at the appropriate levels- Contributing to sales proposals for quotation purposes- Arranging transportation of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery- Analysing market trends and propose insightful buying decisions- Be responsible for goods receiving and issue of components to the production line- Assessing quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and relevant internal stakeholdersOur ideal Buyerwill have the below skills and experience:- Engineering Degree or equivalent- Ability to use MRP systems. IT literate (competent user of MS products e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar purchasing environment- Degree, CIPS certified, or time served, preferably in an electro-mechanical environment- Ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings- Previous experience of using and maintaining MRP systems is essential- Experience in a wide range of manufacturing processes and techniques- The ability to co-ordinate a cross functional team whilst liaising with customers and suppliers- You must have the ability to balance an attention to detail with a high level of report writing and presentation skills- You should be able to confidently present your findings and propose solutions with all levels of external and internal colleagues- A natural problem-solving ability is essential- Knowledge of, Batteries, Electronics, Plastics, Fabrications, Casting and Machining processes is essential- An understanding APQP/PPAP techniquesIf you feel you have the skills and experience to become our Buyer, why not click apply now Wed love to hear from you!No agencies please.
