Job Description

The UK Safety Assurance Team is responsible for assuring that these products and projects / schemes meet their legislative andcustomer requirements for safety across their operational life, from installation and commissioning through to eventual decommissioning. Your mission: Responsibility for undertaking Safety Assurance Activities on Projects / Schemes or Product Introductions in support of the designated Safety Assurance Manager on a project, in order to support our clients requirements to meet Interoperability and Common SafetyMethod for Risk Evaluation and Assessment.Supporting the Safety Assurance Manager on a project in ensuring that their allocated SS&I project / scheme (s) meet all necessary legislative and safety requirements and responsibilities. Engineering Safety Management, Safety Assurance, Product Acceptanceand Homologation are central to the businesses way or working. Your responsibilities will include:Providing engineering safety assurance support to the Safety Assurance Manager on projects on application projects or product introductionPractical Implementation of an Engineering Safety Management Lifecycle for compliance with the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment and CENELEC Standards including:Project hazard analysis / Safety Risk Activities (including technical secretary for Hazard Identification activities)Hazard (Log/Record) Management, Mitigation and ClosureSupporting the development of safety assurance documentation including Safety Plans, Safety Cases or Safety Justification Report(s)Engineering safety management liaising at all levels within SS&I (especially other members of the Safety Assurance Team, Project Manager, Contractors Engineering Manager and Contractors Responsible Engineer(s)), other parts of and possibly externally withcustomer or appropriate Assessment BodiesSupporting in the preparation of Safety Assurance TendersSupporting the UK Regional Centre Safety Manager with regard to Safety Assurance processes, procedures and working practicesProcessing UK Safety Assurance Key Project Indicators including On Time Delivery of Safety Assurance documentation and Hazard Log/Record Statistics for review within the Safety Assurance teamTravelling regularly to other UK office locations as well as project/site offices related to their project responsibilitiesComplying with, undertake and promote all relevant Environment, Health & Safety measures, responsibilities and activities.Your experience and qualifications : Essential:Educated to Degree or Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Systems Engineering related subject with a good pass in English and Mathematics (at GCSE or equivalent)Experience in at least one of: UK Signalling, systems engineering or safety assuranceExperience in ETCS/ERTMS in trackside and/or train-borne application projectsDesirable:Good interpersonal and communication skills (in written and spoken English)Good style of concise written arguments and report preparationAttention to detailAbility to work to timescales and prioritize work to meet deadlinesUnderstanding of:Conventional UK Signalling and interlocking application projectsSafety engineering or safety assurance and systems engineeringCommon Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment and associated procedures and applicationCENELEC Standards including BSEN50126/8/9 as well as associated procedures and applicationReliability Availability and Maintainability Modelling and Failure Reporting and Corrective Action SystemControl Centre applicationsHomologationDatabase related applications.My client is the leading company in the mobility sector, solving the most interesting challenges for tomorrows mobility.
