Job Description

Role: Factory Production Operative KnittingThe role will involve operating our Industrial knitting machineson a 3 shift roster which operates 6am until 2pm, 2pm until 10pm and 10pm until 6am Monday to Friday. There is also a shift allowance for unsocial hours worked before 7am and after 7pm.At John Smedley we expertly manufacture high quality fine knitwear that is distributed around the world.We are now recruiting for permanent factory operatives to operate our knitting production machines. The ideal candidate will have past experience of working in a factory or similar busy production or manufacturing environment
Experience of running/operating a machine
Experience of setting a machine

Able to work under pressure
Attention to detail and take pride in your work so that the work produced is of the highest quality
Ability to problem solve
Be able to work shifts as this is a shift work role which includes days, noons and nights over a two or three week rota
Willingness to be flexible in their approach to work

Job responsibilities

To operate knitting machines in line with company procedures/SOPs.
To produce knitted garments to agreed schedule.
To be able to change elements on the machines in a safe manner in line with training.
To liaise with Mechanics/Quality/Management as required.
To comply with any yarn procedures in place at any time and ensure that the condition of the yarn is protected
To report any waste as required and to try to keep this to a minimum
To comply with all company policies and procedures
To undertake any relevant training activities.

To keep work areas clean and tidy

Reporting any unsafe conditions straight away to a Shift Manager or other manager as required.

Ensure compliance with all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Any other duties as may be deemed reasonable.
