My client is looking to recruit a Senior Engineer Vehicle Safety.Key Objectives & Responsibilities:Reporting to the Vehicle Safety Manager, you will lead the validation and verification of vehicle safety targets across a complete vehicle programme.In this role, you will work closely with the Occupant Safety lead, Safety component/system owners and Structures teams to ensure that the vehicle design and its safety features will enable the programme safety targets to be met. You will provide guidance to the vehicle system and occupant protection CAE teams and interpret CAE model outputs. You’ll also support problem solving and issue resolution.You’ll develop vehicle safety test plans, and guide and support sled/ crash test activities. You’ll write and maintain test procedures and generate sign-off test reports.You’ll be responsible for performing crash and sled test data analysis to support occupant protection development, identifying and communicating direction for design change.As a member of a small team, you’ll also be expected to lead and/or support other safety-related activities and will be comfortable with embracing new challenges.Travel will be required within the UK (for example to test houses) and occasionally globally.RequirementsYou will preferably have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant area with at least 5 years automotive industry experience working in a vehicle occupant safety area. You will be familiar with OEM and supplier product development systems.You will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivering automotive vehicle safety performance to global safety standards.You will have expertise in the use of safety test data analysis software packages. You’ll also be familiar with CAE tools and techniques and be able to interpret and critique results.You’ll have experience of specifying, coordinating and delivering safety test activity (via external test houses).Specialist knowledge of other safety areas (e.g. sensing, VRU, ADAS, structures, HV) would be advantageous.As a collaborative team player, you’ll have effective communication skills, be comfortable interfacing with various stakeholders.If you believe you have what it takes to work at the heart of automotive innovation, then we look forward to reviewing your application.
