Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a specialist health and social care provider, who is seeking a Head of Care and Registered Manager for a brand beautiful service in Corbridge, Northumberland. The service is for young adults and teenagers aged 16-25years old, aiming to transform and provide education and care to the people supported in line with CQC. This site is a college in an enclosed area, and you will lead Residential care on site for people with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Special EducationalNeeds.The Head of Care will have overall management responsibility for the residential operational service, ensure overall regulatory compliance for the homes, and to always promote the safety and welfare of people supported. They will ensure the development of aninnovative and person focused approach to continuous service development and improvement that responds to the needs and aspirations of the people supported.You would become part of the Senior Leadership Team, working with the College Principle and the Nominated Individual to drive and ensure an exemplary quality of care of the service is Corbridge, Northumberland.Key Responsibilities of a Head of Care and Registered Manager

  • Lead and contribute fully to the overall strategic planning and bring about continued effective changes in practice, taking staff on a professional development journey and building effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Model group practice, adhering to the vision set out by the Principle and wider group policy.
  • Be accountable for the regulatory rating by CQC and for the smooth, safe running of the care services within the college.
  • As directed by the Principle, play an active and engaged role withing the operational needs of the College.
  • To ensure the College has a robust Quality Improvement Plan for care that is updated monthly and shared key stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day line management of Deputy Home Managers and ensure that there are clear weekly KPIs to ensure impact and effectiveness.
  • Conduct weekly care meetings, reviewing data to illustrate areas of further need and opportunities for future growth.
  • Managing delegated budgets and ensuring all group financial processes and procedures are followed correctly within allocated budget and expectations of the Principle.
  • Recruit, appoint, support, train, and performance manage staff appropriately and according to all personnel procedures and to play an active role in ensuring that the College recruiting sufficient staff. Thid includes supporting interviews and recruitmentevents where necessary.
  • Report to the Principle in the event of awareness of bad practice, maladministration, or health hand safety issues.
  • Ensure you remain regular, proactive, and meaningful communications with the parents and Local Authorities and promote and approachable, open-door attitude to joint working.
  • Attend regular Head of Care Forum meetings and support the Regional Lead for Care with any data returns that promote a wider group oversight.
Head of Care Requirements:
  • MUST have Level 4 Diploma Health and Social Care or equivalent and be actively working towards a Level 5.
  • CQC/Ofsted approved Manager.
  • Clean, current driving licence.
  • Willingness to undergo fit person interview.
  • At least 4 years’ significant management experience in a care setting within the past 5 years, at a standard assessed as ‘competent’ in all aspects of the job.
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience working effectively with children/adults with Learning Disabilities and Behaviour that may Challenge.
  • Knowledge of Health and Social Care Act 2008 Regulations 2014.
  • Knowledge of Children’s and Families Act 2014.
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Quality Standards 2015, Care Standards Act 2000.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of Employment Regulation and Processes.
  • Knowledge of Equality and Diversity.
  • Prevent knowledge.
Desirable:
  • Formal qualifications relating to Autism or Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Experience of successfully leading a significant improvement/change programme.
  • Willingness to commit to personal CPD learning and development.
  • Ability to analyse and process data.
  • Presentation and Training skills.
