Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support a child within s school in Consett starting in October 2022. The successful candidate will be working 1:1 with a child in the reception class.To be considered for this position, you have had recent experience of working within a Primary school.The successful applicant must have strong behavioural skills and techniques for a challenging and rewarding role.SEND Primary Teaching Assistant Responsibility:

  • To provide support for a child 1:1 and in small groups
  • To assist the teacher responsible for a class of children within the school
  • To be a committed and active member of the staff team and school community
  • To provide nurture and support for a range of academic abilities.
  • To monitor the social and emotional needs of the children, and to liaise with appropriate staff
  • Run 1:1 Interventions and create a warm and caring environment where children can flourish and learn
  • To ensure the good behaviour of all pupils in the school, supporting whole school procedures
We are looking for someone who:
  • has GCSE English & Maths
  • preferably qualified to an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification
  • Is preferably an experienced teaching assistant with a range of knowledge on supporting children across different ages, including nursery.
  • Someone with experience of working with children.
  • Someone with good communication skills
  • Someone committed to working in partnership with staff, parents and the community to promote inclusion and excellent opportunities for all.
